INTERACTIVE JOURNAL RESPONSE (page 21)

I think the author wants to feel and see her parents culture by herself. I'm not in case like the author, but I would try to know my parents background if I were in her case. The reason is because I was born from my parents, and I'm interested in how my parents went through in their childhoods. She is in American culture, but she is still a Chinese. she might want to find out what Chinese( her ancesters) are.
Coming to terms with our own cultural identity is important for me. I have moved a few times, and every place is valuable. All of them is in Japan, but I think there are some differences in each. Every place made me what I am now.      ... My answer could be different if I were in the author's case.

  1. Hi,I'm Maya. I had never such experience like you, but I have similar opinion. Exactly I'm interested in my parents background if my parents had different culture from me. There are many variety of culture, and it's not easy to understand.

  2. This is very deep thinking on your part...I agree with you. Even moving around within a country can lead to having new cultural experiences.
